Bill approves of bill

11 Dec

After the two smartest men in the country concluded their private meeting in the Oval Office, the former President – with the present President’s permission – took to the briefing room, where he publicly endorsed the Obama Tax Compromise.

From Ben Feller, AP White House Correspondent: Clinton comfortably outlined how the pending package of tax cuts, business incentives and unemployment benefits would boost the economy — even though it included tax help for the wealthy that Obama had to swallow.

He crystallized the situation with his usual panache: “There’s never a perfect bipartisan bill in the eyes of a partisan, but I really believe this will be a significant net-plus for the country.”

A lot of people loudly and forcefully oppose this bill. Those on the Left hate the concessions Obama gave to the Right; and those on the Right hate the concessions Obama gave to the Left. I don’t understand why there’s this kind of shock and awe that the candidate who said: “There’s not a liberal America and a conservative America – there’s the United States of America.”  is responding to obstructionists and ideologues like a true statesman. Isn’t that why we elected him in the first place?
